What We Do
Mind and Skin is a charity that aims to improve the daily quality of life for skin disease sufferers. Mind & Skin aspire to help dermatology patients by increasing their self-esteem, reducing stress and managing the physical and psychological aspect of their condition. We aspire to improve communications between Government, all health related officials, and their patients.
Who We Are
Mind & Skin is a psychodermatology charity that was established in Sussex, U.K.
We are the only dedicated psychodermatology charity in the U.K. We have a board of trustees who are responsible for the direction and governance of the charity. The charity’s services are delivered by a combination of staff members, volunteers and official advisors.

Mind & Skin aim to become an internationally respected charity delivering psychodermatology information to our beneficiaries. This will be evidenced by:
- Influencing the development of quality standards in NHS dermatological care to include psychological care.
- Create an academic research service and become a leading the authority in psychodermatology-based research.
- Provide doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses and patients with valuable information about psychodermatology.
Mr Simon Oates is CEO and Chairman of Mind & Skin. He recently graduated from the University of Brighton in MA Community Psychology. His specialist interest is psychodermatology.
